Advent: Loss of humanity.
Well I've got a new game idea. Inspired by Pokemon RPG's post concerning making a pokemon rpg, and drawing from my own experience of making Advent, I want to make a futuristic monster hunting romp. Yes a combat based game will ensue.
So far I'm thinging not to distant future in which the monsters, subdued thousands of years ago (as per Advent) have broken their bonds en masse and turned against their masters.
Through interbreeding and cultural pollination, differences between the races are minimal and so the only race his Human. Players will be able to have lineage (Orc, Elf etc) which will give them some minor advantages.
I'm thinking a class based system and so far I've got: Gunslinger, Hacker, Medic, Salker and Martial Artist, though I will probably want 3 more (eight being a nice number.)
Class system is going to be very rough. Each class will have a primary, secondary and tertiary skill group. You'll gain 3 points to spend among your primary group, 2 for your secondary and 1 for your tertiary every level. Nice and simple without railroading each character into the stereotype of their class.
No magic in this game, I get bored of trying to come up with either a) a magic system that doesn't rely on spells or b) enough spells to make magic worthwhile. There will be special techniques that character's will be able to learn and use.
