The Christmas Project.

Well it's less than two weeks until Christmas. So I think it's about time for a christmasy rpg competition! For those of us who haven't done anything in a while it'll get our creative juices flowing and for those with on going projects, this'll provide a nice short break.

So I propose the following.

1) People begin writing at the start of next week (Monday the 17th)

2) Sumbissions should be in by the 24th, we don't want to work on christmas.

3) The game must be christmas theme'd or at least revolve around some sort of celebatory tone (perhaps in your world christmas doesn't exist, but the opposite occurs in which people spend the day robbing and looting?)

4)You must have fun whilst making it. If you don't, then you won't be considered for the prize: The title Lord (or Lady) of Christmas Gaming!

Crapola

due to things i couldint deal with, i wasint able to work much and has no access to a comp with net till now. shit...

i will still complkete the game but awww...

Twas the night before christmas.

Well it was only a bit of fun, so I think no one will mind waiting for your entry.

We'll see...

I didn't expect this week to be as busy as it turned out. Between graduation, the cross country drive home, and my new Final Fantasy 11 account, I lost track of time.

So, I've got about 45 minutes to give this a shot. We'll see... but I probably won't be able to make it in time.

I just learned of this challenge

On Christmas eve! LOL Let's see... if I give myself 2 or 3 hours to write it, I may be able to make a Xmas-themed RPG in time. I actually have 5 hours and 20 minutes until midnight... seems like a good enough challenge for me! Let's see if I can come up with something Christmas-y enough.

Couldn't make it fly

I had a good concept that I could just not parlay into an interesting game.

I was trying to make a simple RPG called 'The Uncanny X-Mas'. It was a Christmas-y take on Marvel Mutants. In it, Professor X-Mas and his uncanny X-mas Men were to do battle with Anti-Claus and the Brotherhood of Elfin Mutants.

What sucks is that I had a clever concept (X-men + X-mas) but I just could not make it into an interesting mini-RPG. And, although I did try to get it done by or on Christmas day, I was aiming to get it done even if I had to finish it after Christmas (but before December ended). As it were, I could not get it done, at least not in a way that was worthwhile and interesting. Maybe next Christmas...

I do look forward to checking out what games did get done as a result of this challenge though.

Room for one more loser?

I didn't get it done either. Between other stuff that had to get done and the presence of friends and family (one sister returned from studying in Italy) games fell by the wayside.

On the other hand, it wasn't too specifically Christmas-y and I'm still working on it. Given the delay, this is a good chance to experiment and try for a bit more indy style.

Currently my idea is that scenes are designed collectively. Rolls determine how many elements a given player can add/change. However, past a certain threshold - the rolls can also grant others a chance to induce complications.

Same sci-fi with 1984 twinge, but a method not normally found in my designs.

There is a fine line between hobby and obsession. I seem to have lost sight of it some time ago.

(Immaculate?) Game Conception

If you've got a good idea, it shouldn't be a problem. I've had all week, and never decided if I prefer an Indy style with rolls giving characters story points to alter the scene, or just a standard d10+ stat & Skill for success. You can probably count me out of the contest due to timing, though the game will still be completed eventually.

Of course, the fact that I've been working on another 1 page game, a computer, and some D&B stories hasn't helped the deadline either.

Happy Holidays

Hurrah!

It's Christmas tommorrow. I've finished my game (although I doubt that it could hold itself up for more than a couple of sessions.) I'm going to be busy and wont have time toread the other's until after the New Year, but then I'll happily pass comment. Have a Merry Christmas.

3...2....1...GO!

Competition starts tommorrow! I'm almost as excited as I am about christmas.

I'm not sure whether you guys want be to start a book in which you can hang pages with your games on, or if you just want to have individual pages with the uploaded products.

Either is fine for me, so I'll work with your preferance.

Charge my lazahz

Alright, since i basicly try every compitition on here i can i will give it el shot.

Sounds fun

While I have plenty of other projects to do, I know myself to well to believe I'll finish them in the next 2 weeks. So perhaps a little diversion is in order. Not sure what I'll do just yet but the contest doesn't start yet so thats OK.

Late start.

I'd thought I'd set the start date a few days away, to give people time to notice the competition. Plus it gives exactly one week to work on.

I'm having a few ideas, and the urge not to work on them is immense.

Count me in

Tommorrow's my final presentation. Lute Hero the computer game will be available for download within the next week. (Also note that this means my tabletop games has missed the target completion date... But I suppose school comes first.)

That means that I'll have some free time to finally to work on my own projects. So count me in.

Well, that and get a job...

school comes first?

no, never
