Attached is the dice resolution method I originally devised for Dramo Wolrmoro, but scrapped because I didn't think it fits the setting very well. I think that this system would be better off for an over-the-top, high-action game (like Ninja Gaiden).
Features:
1. Instead of using modifiers to add or subtract from a dice roll, a graduated dice table is used. Dice ranks represent the die used for the task; the lower the dice rank, the higher your chances for success. Smaller dice represent the consistency associated with skill. Penalizing circumstances increase your dice rank, and beneficial circumstances lower your dice rank.
2. The standard dice rank is a 12-sided die. For every point of skill you are above the opposition's, you use a lower dice rank. This mechanic scales very well, and opponents with extremely high yet equal skill levels won't find themselves scoring hits against each other every single turn. For every point of difficulty a challenge (for unopposed rolls) is above you, you roll 1 dice rank higher.
3. Movement and placement are not quantified, and all combat is resolved verbally. Going through ten rounds of combat or fighting hordes of enemies is a very quick process.
