About Faust

Hello there...

I started this to kill some time but it seems like it could be helpful in the future.

Anyway I started off writing RPGs a while ago but never found any one to play. So from this I decided that one player RPGs were the way to go for now. I have published my main game in a few versions of varying complexity from a 12 page guide with classes and activities other than killing monsters, to an ultra minimalist version that could fit on one small page.

I had also done a few multi player games but I'll never be sure if they would work since I never found players. I had good feelings for a baseball game I had written but alas it was not meant to be.

My ultimate goal is to do a LARP that the people playing are never permitted to stop playing. They must remain in character as they go about their real lives. But deep down I think that might be a stupid idea.

uh I live in NJ, I draw, I like cute stuff and thats about it... peace

Welcome

That LARP idea actually sounds pretty cool. I've seen a handful of them, but never actually had the chance to play one. The only problem I've seen with them is getting enough people to join in.

Anyways, Put it together, because I'd love to see it.

Oh yeah, and welcome to the site.

Welcome to the Lab

We have a number of solo games on this site, so you're in very good company. Feel free to post them or give us a link, and feedback will be forthcoming.

You're "all-the-time" LARP isn't that bad of an idea. Have you ever played The Assassin Game? Its popular on some college campuses. Go about your normal life, while at the same time trying to "kill" a certain target covertly. Depending on your local, the rules may state you use fruit instead of guns, water pistols, or contact poison in the form of double sided tape.

There might be a bit of a problem with game in/out designation. It might work better to have an activation phrase or set locations. Put another way, its not so much always running, as it can be started any time. If you get a phone-call where the greeting is "ahoy" instead of hello, it begins for example. Or certain intersections/buildings are in character locals elsewhere you're normal.

I'm not a live action gamer, but it sounds like an intriguing idea, and I want to see where you take it.

There is a fine line between hobby and obsession. I seem to have lost sight of it some time ago.

thanks, I think the

thanks, I think the designated locations for in-character stuff is a good idea. As for posting my own games, I wanna look around first to see how many other people have had the same idea, I tend to have ideas then find a million people have had the exact same idea as mine
