My RPG Bio

At around ten years old I played my first RPG Star Frontiers. After a short time, I decided that I really would rather make my own game. At thirteen years old I had a five subject spiral notebook that had a complete game that my brother and I worked on called Galactic Legions. These were the dark times, before the internet, PDFs and print on demand. A space opera with an emphasis on having as many player alien species as possible. At sixteen I had typed up the book but didn't have any way of scanning all the pictures and formatting a book. I couldn't afford expensive typesetting programs.

At nineteen, with Galactic Legions still being expanded and refined, I decided to work on a "quick" RPG (I intended it to be quickly made and then be done with it) that we called The Artifact. The inital concept was what it would be like to have an RPG on an artificial planet. After five years of playtesting and writing, theartifact.net went online with PDFs of the game. After another five years of playtesting and design, print on demand made it possible to get The Artifact printed. Three soucebooks Then two years later the second edition of The Artifact was released with rule refinements, more pictures at a higher quality and better maps and more equipment that made the world a little less deadly.

Despite some very dedicated players I did fail to market my games. I would like to see more people picking up the game but my marketing skills are poor. I'm working on that.

I'm a fan of big well developed Science Fiction worlds (or universes as the case may be). I like storytelling in a role playing game but I'm more a fan of how the mechanics of the game define a story. I put a lot of effort into simulating how things really would work, studying materials and physics and how to use them in a game.
