RPG Laboratory

24 hour Spy Game

|

Written for the Modus Operandi Competition, it takes place just before World War One, on the planet Saturn. The Jewish immigrants to the floating cities of the gas giant are well aware that they are caught between the titians of the age, with nothing to defend themselves. Should war come to the rings, the powers will be quick to seize their cities and attack their shipping for strategic advantage. Thus an elite group known as the "Ghost of Shabbat" has been formed to sabotage the war efforts of everyone to prevent the outbreak of hostilities.

The Naval buildup before WWI was quite similar to the balancing act of MAD during the cold war. Get too strong and the other feels you;re a threat and attacks. Get too weak, the other thinks you're vonrable, and attacks. The Washington Treaty of the 1930s was of the same intent as the latter START I&II. This concludes todays history lesson.

Caught my eye...

Hey CA,

The title of this post caught my eye. Please do me a favor and continue to exercise extra care with this particular subject matter.

Thanks!

Keeton

Sorry

I was in a hurry to get the work submitted and a time stamp - before I noticed that the contest was moved untill after Easter.

While I though enough people would have gotten the Mel Brooks refrence, you're right, and the post has been amended. As a Jew myself, I'd never be intentionally antisemetic, and the game itself is of a very serious tone.

The description in the emailed submission should also be altered. to something along the lines of
"Its 1910, and the the world is gearing up for war. The residents of a small Jewish comunity located in the clouds of Saturn are worried they will be crushed once the titans have been roused. thus, they have put together a select force to oppose them all and stop the conflict."

If this still fail to meat your approval, please delte the game, post, and I'll remove any trace of it from my computer system as well.

There is a fine line between hobby and obsession. I seem to have lost sight of it some time ago.

Apology unnecessary - you

Apology unnecessary - you didn't do anything wrong and I like the game. I was just giving you the heads up because sometimes people don't read past the titles :)

FYI - if it was really offensive I would have pulled the plug myself.

Truth be told, I've only censored one game in the entire history of RPG laboratory and 1KM1KT - a game involving the roleplay of a mentally handicapped individual (not the wording the author used) where the goal of the game was to create the most elaborate comedy of errors possible. With that as a yardstick, I think you're fine ;)
