I hope you don't mind me starting a new thread - the old one had a lot of miscellaneous posts, so I figured this would be a better way to organize.

To begin - I really like the choice of 1845. Back when the west was really wild, unpopulated, and still prone to border raids. Decades before the 1873 New Model Army (Colt Peacemaker) and the railroad helped tame the west - black powder cap and ball pistols are still the main technology.

There are two points where some of your numbers don't make much sense:

  • Given that its not a d100 based system, claiming each point in a skill gives you a % bonus doesn't really mean much. You're better off with just straight additions.

  • d4/2-3 means what? 2-3 damage if it hits, or hits if thats the roll? It helps to be a bit more specific when writing instructional pieces like game rules.

Given that you proclaimed a lack of the exotic gaming polyhedral dice, and there were no game shops nearby - why are you creating opponents that need them? There is nothing wrong with simply using normal d6s, poker draws, or some other randomizer. Its going to be hard to try the game with your friends if no one has the equipment.

By the way, you don't need to give us the info in html format - there are sites that can convert word/text documents into PDF for easy reading.

Overall, it looks pretty good. Keep at it!
