It seems like forever since I've been to this site, but i decided to pay a visit to see what was new.
Theres a few new projects i wanna check out but first I'm gonna comment on the game I thought up in a matter of seconds that may or may not work.
so the idea is a one player RPG/Board game thing, like most of my past games it seems to be about earning points (mostly cause' I'm too lazy to think up a real goal or story.)
you start with a lined piece of paper or gird paper or what ever as long as it has 12 of some sort of spaces. You take a 12 sided die and roll it then starting from the top count down the spaces. at this space on the paper you roll the d12 again to determine what kind of location is there, such as a town or a dungeon or something. then you repeat as many times as you wish or until all the spaces are filled.
now you make your party. you start off with one hero. just a generic guy with no particular talent for magic or combat (this may change later). you roll the d12 3 times to determine his starting companions from a table of the possible characters (you can re-roll if having certain types of friends is THAT important to you). you can name them and make up histories if you want but it really doesn't matter (personally thats my favorite of making a party). New people may join you but your party can only have up to 6 people.
to start play roll 1d6 to see what space you move too. when you come to a location there are normally a few shops that you may choose to go to before rolling d6 to determine a random event. random events may be battles or new companions (each location has a possible party member but you can only have 6, you can always ditch extra party members to make room but its not very nice). events are passed by having the right party member type with you such as having a thief to sneak or a cleric to turn away zombies.
the system is not fully developed yet and the events/locations/companions are still in the development phase as well, but if I know me (and I'm not 100% I do) Yetis, devils and some sort of adorable mascot monster will be 3 of the possible allies. although i do have a simple no stat battle system.
ready?
its really stupid!
your gonna think I'm an idiot!
I thought it up in like 5 seconds!
you flip a quarter for each member of your group! heads is a victory and tails is a defeat. if you have more victories than defeats you win the battle and gain some reward (probably points) and if you get more defeats one of your companions DIES! you can pick which of your buddies bites the big one (any one but the hero), should your hero be the last one standing and you lose at combat the game is over and you lose.
but thems the rules if you're gonna try to be a hero or a villain as the games rules are quite vague and you could just as well pretend you and your cohorts are out to do bad (refuse to let angels or clerics or paladins join up and only take devils and necromancers and yakuza on your EPIC QUEST FOR EVIL!)
thats it for now I guess... Rock on RPG Laboratory, Rock on
