Live Game

|

Game World: North America
Time Frame: Present
Enviornment: Real Life
Game Name: Live Game

Premise: If you have ever seen the movie "The Game" (1997) then you have a very basic understading of one thing that has influenced the vision of Live Game. Additionally, the TV show "Cha$se" by the SciFi Channel boosted my vision and ispired me to quit dreaming about Live Game and set out to see if my ideas are truly viable.

So, with this said lets look in detail at the premise of Live Game. Imagine a game world that takes plance in real time and combines the advantages of modern communications and electronic advances (iPhone, GPS, FRS, Skype, IM, the Internet, etc..) with a set of simple rules that provide the framework for players to participate nearly any time they wish.

Participats take on missions that propel the plot forward and pit individual players or groups of players against other individual players or groups of players. Before a player starts the game they create their dossier folder with Live Game. This dossier folder will be the players "character sheet" and will be updated by Live Game staff as the game progresses. Important actions perfomred by players will be recoded and additional plot lines will be introduced based upon the players actions.

To understand the above lets look at a basic game mission that introduces new players to the game.

After crating their dossier folder the players are officially enrolled in the game. The players do not know exactly how the game will begin but they know that they will be contacted with their first mission.

The Live Game Staff or a player will kick of a mission where a disc is dropped at a location for eventual pickup by a thrid party.

Once the disc is in place (actually hidden in a real location) the a new player will be dispatched on a mission
requiring that an important cd-rom disc be recovered from a drop location. (Actual information will be on this disc) Once the player obtains the disc they will need to provide a special serial number to the Live Game Staff to signal completion and also to track the location of the item.

The player will need to complete this mission within a set time frame. At the same time another player will be sent on a mission to investigate intelligence reports of a pickup being made. This player is ordered to survail the drop location. This player should attempt to get photographs of the pickup. The photographs then need to be submitted

In the above exmple an actual item is used as a catalyst to introduce new players to the game and advance the game plot.

The player with the disc is now in position of a game item that others are interested in. They are also free to examine the contents of the disc. The contents of the disc could prompt them to turn the disc over to "authorities", attempt to sell the item on the black market, or hold onto the disc untill contacted.

Each of these actions carry with it a plot line to advance the overal plot of the game.
