I think making a 'generic' rpg that stands out is difficult. In fact making a generic rule set is difficult full stop ->.
Your character creation seems to be getting of to a good start. It's simple and easy and has a broad base of well defined stats that would fit well in any setting. Did you have any plans for further character traits. Also what system do you indeed to use? There are plenty to choose from if you haven't already and finding one to fit a universal system can be tricky.
Also so far you've used the site right.
