I would like to take a moment to say what a great site Rpg Laboratory is, and as a contribution I am going to use it to assist with my development of my rpg MACE, which is short for Martial Arts Card Engine.
MACE uses a standard deck of cards to create cinematic encounters without being too complex or cumbersome. It is also "vanilla", meaning that it can be for any setting. Furthermore, due to its simplicity, it is a excellent versus system for getting cross genre battles. Street Fighter versus Tekken? Mortal Kombat versus Def Jam? The list is endless.
