Sorry, I realized, I can't delete book pages. This is the playtest document move from Social Skills:
After some card playing on my own I decided to rationalize the components of the NPCs. If you have a deck of playing cards, you can try making an NPC and fighting against it even on your own.
The face down first defend card is the very core of the mechanics, thatswhy the best would be if the NPCs' first defend card would be chosen by a real living person. Alternative solution is: to include this information just like the secrets of the NPC in a booklet wich isn't consulted until after the battle. For now I draw a card from the top of the deck.
The below components are relevant (if the trump is changed, the first defend card is changed, too!):
- size of hand
- This many cards you draw, than choose the highest priority and discard the others.
- effective priority
- Prioritize the card wich has the highest value.
- thematic priority
- Prioritize the card wich has the suit of X.
- shamefulness
- Unprioritize face cards.
- strategy
- The suit X becomes trump if suit Y is trump.
- subjective
- The suit X becomes suit Y.
- secrets held
- The suit of every face card of the suit X becomes Y.
- used to
- The trump is always X.
- backwards strategy
- The trump is X is the cards of Y have highest total value.
An NPC using components below can mostly beat me:
Size of Hand: 2.
Prioritize the card wich has the highest value.
Black suits become trump if the trump is black.
Red suits become trump if the trump is red.
I think the latter two components are very strong. (Have to be regarded 4 components indeed.)
Example NPCs:
Security Guard
Size of Hand: 1.
Clubs become Spades.
Trump is always Spades.
