Call of the Anarchy Zones

You call us heretics. We prefer the names Montag, Winston, and Dekkard. All names from literature mind you - though I doubt you even know the meaning of the word.

Neither did Montag. He thought books were nothing more than kindling. Bradbury’s fireman was a servant to a society that focused on itself, on being selfish and indulgent and listening to the damn idiot box all day if they weren’t overdosing on drugs. A society that feared self reflection and growth, focused on the beautiful few. Sound familiar - or have you been deafened by your own shouting?

Winston comes from another book of a dark future - but this one didn’t end happily with the society going under the gun. No, hew was the one who died in the end, all for writing a few dissident words and accepting the world around him for the sham that it was. He worked for a newspaper that edited yesterday’s edition for correctness, changing the old facts to meet the new.

Nano-tech kept many of you alive, made sure that many of you were born, and is embedded in the concrete foundation of you oh so holy temple. Yet you say its these tiny machines that brought down the wrath of god, and it is his doing that the dead walk. Turn yourself away from the time when we didn’t need god, were on the verge of becoming god…

But no, its not some atheistic bent that drives us to wander the wastes. I may have a hell of a time keeping kosher out here, but I say the sh’hecheanu and the sh’ma every day and wear a keppah on the Sabbath. Its because you feel that mankind should stop reaching ahead and should be sorry they tried.

Dekkard is a character from a book where everyone is all but required to keep an animal to help preserve species from the fall out blanketing the world. He is a bounty hunter seeking fake people - testing their emotional responses to find out if they are real. You wouldn’t pass the so called Voight-Kampf test if you had the answers written down for you.

Montags question and seek to read what you don’t tell them. Winston’s seek a better world. Dekkards are humanists that can’t stomach how you build fences and live in your own little world.

It is really difficult for life to exist in the ruins and zombie hordes. But to exist in the zone is really life!
