SpellCaster Card Game Finished

|

Here it is my first complete card game, designed to defeat collectible trading card games or introduce new players to such games with a minimal budget.

SpellCaster is a magical and physical combat game for two or more players. Each player is represented by a Spell Caster, a warrior mage trained in the ways of combat and magic, skilled in powerful martial arts techniques and armed with a complete arsenal of spells. The goal is to defeat all others players and remain the last spell caster alive. SpellCaster uses ordinary playing cards, but is no ordinary card game as it combines hex/grid map strategy. Since the game uses poker cards, generic playing pieces and any plain hex or grid map it is easy to play and easy on the budget, unlike most any other collectible trading card game. SpellCaster uses a unique system of card combinations in preparing and casting spells. If you like magic or martial arts fantasy try playing SpellCaster.

SpellCaster Basics

Requirements: Graph or hex game mat/paper for a playing field, 2 playing pieces and 2 standard poker decks (52+Joker) or 1 piece and 1 deck for each player.

Set up

Players shuffle their decks.

Burn card -Draw the first card from your deck and place face up next to your deck to create a discard pile. Burn cards help honesty.

Each player Draws a hand of 7 cards.

Spell Preparation:Charge cards by placing them from your hand face down in front of you, creating prearranged spells if possible. You may refer to the spells list. You do not have to Prepare any spells, but you may not continue until your hand equal 5 cards. It is acceptable to achieve this by discarding two cards or by Drawing only 5.(It just is not a good strategy.)This is a rare time when you may Charge more than 1 card or even every card in your hand.

POOF! I Reappear!

After nearly a year I am back. I just logged in and started catching up and I have found, much to my surprise and chagrin, that in my absence, I was read, missed and talked about. Thank you, everyone who read my works (especially those that left comments) or spoke well of me in my absence! It feels strange to me now, looking at the time stamps it has been almost a year's time that has passed that I would simply rather not explain in print. Well, suffice it to say I'm sorry I was gone so long. I really missed everyone here and the excitement of seeing published final projects on 1km1kt.net. It is amazing and encouraging to see how much everyone has done, and how both websites have grown in more than just size, membership or content volume, but also in quality.

S.P.Y.

|

I'm new here, and I just wanted to see how this is...

I designed this RPG about a week ago and it's called S.P.Y. and as you guessed, it's a spy RPG. The attachment says the basic layout. I just updated it with new weapons and power ups. (Sorry I had to get rid of the Missile Launcher. Hey, if someone had that nobody would beat him/her!)

Some New Games

I know it's been quite some time since I last posted anything, but I thought everyone would like to know about my website, Legacies. As of right now, it hosts five of my games, everything from Star Wars to Transformers to Westerns.

Contests of Note

|

Has anyone heard something recently about design challenges? This is about the time of year for Game Chef, but so far, there hasn't been an update to the site since the end of the last contest.

Thanks for the Memories

Regardless of if you started designing because you wanted to emulate D&D or improve upon it - we must acknowledge that a pivotal figure in our hobby is now gone.
