I Play Treason Season
I Play Treason Season!
A timely political commentary in the form of a 1 page solitaire game by Errin Famiglia, a true game master. If you take cautionary tales like A Brave New World seriously, study history like the McCarthy Era or just ever wanted to rule Illuminati style, then this game is for you.In Treason Season it is decided within a few turns whether you make it in the halls of power vying for leadership of the Great State or face persecution, possibly surviving to play on as treasonous Freedom Fighter. Either way you need all the tools of a politician to survive: Amorality, Religiosity, Warmongering, Disinformation, Bureaucracy and Patriotism. You must use these means of the corrupt on Big Brother missions, in order to either gain Prestige or become Treasonous.A major victory is to prove your villainy and become Leader of the Great State. This game is fun and only really needs the page, a d6 and a pencil to play. You might shorten that list to the sheet and a pencil by coming up with a thicker sheet and adding a spinney wheel or something as some one suggested else where for a game. Since I took a class on politics I couldn't help noticing how a rise to power in the game is a like an election, all it needs is the fund raising and bribes. Play it now, and see what the 2008 elections in America might be like.

This is just a fun game and review!
Cool
You already saved me a small trouble in the play test. I can already agree with you, though raising the 3 of the 6 main attributes is the way to success.Btw, I just posted a copy of I Play THE CREATURE OF MURKY COUNTY RPG on 1km1kt's forum. I think that is another place my final reviews are headed.

1km1kt is a great format
According to Keeton, 1km1kt gets more traffic than RPG Lab, so it's smartf or you to utilize that website as well as this one. I think also that 1km1kt has more feeds out to the rest of the web. Not sure how it all works, but I've been saying for a little bit now that RPG Labbers should take full advantage of 1km1kt having a bigger web presence. That's one of the reasons I urge anybody who contributes to the 2007 Character Sheet challenge here to also post their one page RPGs on 1km1kt. You should totally place your final 'I play' reviews on 1km1kt. Smart thinking.

Hey, small question?
I notice that there is an area for articles on 1km1k.net. In order to get my finished pieces such as a couple of my I Play Games! there, do I submit my article in the same way I do any of my games? I already notice my review gets more reads per day (20 since yesterday evening) just posted under Role-Playing Games in the forums. Hopefully it will add to the popularity of your game too. If I do get to submit my articles the same way as I do games, then I will totally submit my reviews when they are finished being worked on and commented about here, to get them out there and get an idea of the process for when my game is finally together. Basically, I want to use the lab tools the same way, but with my reviews.

Great start so far
I'm glad you caught the political 'message' of Treason Season... I hope you enjoy the game as well. It's a commentary on our own political times, only taken to the Nth degree thanks to The Great State.
One thing I should point out that I didn't explain too well in the rules... Prestige Level and Treason Level are attributes, they are just attributes that increase depending on mission success or failure, whereas the other attributes increase in a different, more random way. Those other six attributes are what the rules refer to in that they can't go below 1 or above 5. That statement was specific to the passage it is a part of in the rules. Some people get it no problem, but others can sometimes be thrown for a loop. Just remember that when you increase attributes at the start of your game, Prestige Level and Treason Level can be among your choices. It adds a much different level of strategy that way, though I think the smartest strategy is to increase your attributes that are not Prestige or Treason.
Good luck serving The Great State!
Peace, Errin : )
