Character Growth and Advancement
As your character adventures and experiences it will gain knowledge and skill and improve itself in a variety of ways. This will be represented by Points that are assigned by the GM after every game session, you might get from 5 to 10 points per session depending on the evening. These points will typically reflect the types of activities your character did in the evening’s game. You can spend these points immediately or hold onto them to spend later the choice is yours.
Points come in five types Physical, Mental, Mystical, Social and Misc. The points that be long to one of the four skill categories can only be spent on skills or stats in that category. Misc points can be spent on skills or stats in any category or spent during game play to effect die rolls.
Raising Skills is done very simply: a base skill can be raised by the expenditure of 5 points of the appropriate category (or any number of points in that category and misc points that total 5) a learned skill can be raised by the expenditure of 2 points. Expert skills have varying requirements dependent on the complexity of the skill, the Base is always 10 points but some skills can require more, and some may require certain milestones in other areas (money, stats, learned or base skills, or a certain level of membership in a group or organization.) With the exception of spells most other skills can be picked up after creation simply by spending two points (for learned skills) Unless that skill’s prerequisite has not been met. If that is the case then the base skill must be raised first.
Raising Stats is done by spending a number of points equal to the current level of the stat (a stat of 0 requires 1 point.) So a STR of 2 would require 2 physical points to raise to 3 while a STR of 15 would require 15 physical points to rise to level 16.
