These are the background you can choose from.

Acknowledgement

Description: You are a widely known and respected authority on your subject of duty.
Value: This means some kind of official degree.
Usage: To persuade someone in the subject of your field. (Even if you aren't right.)
Drawback: You have difficulty to accept if someone else is right.
Crux: Your status is endangered or even it is lost, but the other crewmembers don't know about it.

Courage

Description: You dare to do things wich could cause you bodily harm.
Value: Shows how courageous you are.
Usage: In dangerous situations you can solve the difficulties.
Drawback: You can become daring. You don't know what poses a real danger and what doesn't.
Crux: Something happened that made you rethink your actions. Your reputation is bigger than your deeds.

Courious

Description: You would like to see the world and experience everything.
Value: This shows how much drive you have.
Usage: You can get more informations about your surroundings.
Drawback: You can get into very difficult and dangerous situations. You don't know when to stop.
Crux: You are fed-up. You don't care anymore.

Determined

Description: You know you can count only on yourself. Therefor you do the best you can.
Value: This shows how efficient is your concentration.
Usage: You cannot be distracted until you get the job done.
Drawback: You don't prefer teamwork.
Crux: You doubt your abilities and/or you've driven yourself too far and can't do it anymore.

Experienced

Description: You've seen many things.
Value: Shows how many things you lived through.
Usage: You act in face of the unknown as you would know it.
Drawback: You accept your fate. You don't fight against it even if it is your end.
Crux: You forgot much.

Family

Description: A harmonical life awaits you at home.
Value: The size of the family.
Usage: To understand people, to encourage common goals and to manipulate people.
Drawback: You fear for your life, because you want to return to your family.
Crux: Your life isn't that harmonic as it could be.

Religious Persuasin

Seeker

Description: You are searching redemption or some kind of Holy Grail.
Value: Shows how strong your drive is.
Usage: The experiences help you to know yourself better and your perceptions are different than that of the other crewmembers'.
Drawback: You don't care about mundane things.
Crux: You are disillusionized.
