E.L.V.E.S

E.L.V.E.S is a sci-fi combat RPG that can be anything you want it to be. From Dark Winter Dystopia, to Comedic adventurer. The basic story is explained in this pdf but lots of it is largely up to the GM. That way, No two game groups should have the same world.

MERPG is still in progress, (writer's block) but this idea just popped into my head and I just had to make it! I was going to wait until christmas to release it, but I Feel like posting something so I'm going to.
Hope you enjoy!

Also:
In the pdf it mentions skill tricks at the end of the doc. There aren't any as yet, but if you have ideas, please let me know.

Current MACE retype progress

I have started work on revising MACE for what should be a final and complete document. I began my usual process for typing large documents, which reminded me of several posts regarding how to start typing an RPG.

So I have started this blog so I can show the game from beginning to completion. This is not about game mechanics, but about layout, wording and presentation of an RPG document. I hope MACE serves as a good example due to the nature of its rules and the importance of wording to clearly communicate how to play the game.

Attached is the first step I use, which is a heading skeleton. Firstly, I go through and type on a txt document all the headers I can think of that are relevant to the game.

Before making a game, consider this.

Before coming up with a game, remember this... BRAINSTORM. A game wont be good without a good idea. Think about your game in great detail before actually creating it. I've played a few games out there that I stopped playing after a few minutes. They were either unoriginal, or had a stupid idea. Think about what the player wants. Consider every idea.
A name. A good game needs a good name. Without a good name, a game won't show up. If people think that a name is stupid, they wont try it. It could be the best game ever, but it would be very difficult for it to get known. Think of some creative title that will draw the gamer in.

Advent: Battlegrounds.

|

I really want Advent to become a multisystem franchise (couldn't find a better word.) Because of this I've started work on Advent:Battlegrounds. This is a tactical battle game based on the Advent setting and rules.

It takes place a little after the Advent rulebook, at the time of the Emperor's death. With no heir to throne all of the factions in the Empire are vying to take control for themselves.

So choose to take control of a faction of like minded individuals, or lead one of the races to supremecy.

I'm doing this game in Issues, the details and reasons for which are in the introduction of the first issues. Mainly I just feel this is a great organizational tool.

Character Sheet RPG 2007: MACE

Alright, it seems to be taking a little bit of time for MACE to be posted on 1km1kt (not really, I am just impatient ^_^). So, below is the Character Sheet RPG version of MACE ready for perusal. It is basic, some of it you have already seen in my posts for the game, but the biggest new feature is a description for Stages and their implementation (new!!!).

UPDATED
MACE Lite is finished and ready for download below!

Please do provide your thoughts on this game, thanks!

24 hour Spy Game

|

Written for the Modus Operandi Competition, it takes place just before World War One, on the planet Saturn. The Jewish immigrants to the floating cities of the gas giant are well aware that they are caught between the titians of the age, with nothing to defend themselves. Should war come to the rings, the powers will be quick to seize their cities and attack their shipping for strategic advantage. Thus an elite group known as the "Ghost of Shabbat" has been formed to sabotage the war efforts of everyone to prevent the outbreak of hostilities.

The Naval buildup before WWI was quite similar to the balancing act of MAD during the cold war.

Publishing in Dead Tree Format

OK, this is a book to collect all the conversations I can recall about play testing, publishing, and preparing a game for off-line consumption. Hopefully, this will branch out to have lists of publishers, illustrators, distributors and examples of how to go from idea to paperback.

The Next Step

|

If I've counted right, there are 13 "Dead and Back" story pages on this site, not counting what is posted in the draft PDFs. Talking with a friend the other day, they said this was a rather large collection of free work, and perhaps I should go ahead and try to publish this as its own collection of stories - with or without the actual game.
