3.1. Social Battles
A social battle is a social conflict that incoroprates more attacks simultaneously. It can have more than three participant characters. The basic rules apply with some changes and clarifications.
Clarifications
- in every turn every player acts once, so you can
- either play a card (secretly or not)
- or announce an attack
- or retreat
- or try
- or escape
- the players are having their turns in clockwise order, except NPCs wich have turns evenly between the players
- played cards of a player count into his/her defense and attack rating simultaneously
- one character can have only one active attack at a time, (s)he has to resolve it before making another attack
Changes
- Some cards that would be played face up will be played secretly because other attacks. These cards count as normal, but won't be uncovered until their triggering attack isn't resolved. If a face down card should be counted before it is uncovered, the player who played it tells sincerely if the conflict is won or lost. The precise number is only known after uncovering the card. If the player lied, its character has a secret uncovered by the choosing of the player who was lied to.
In motion all becomes clear.
Now that I've seen it in action I can say how great a mechanic it is. Although explanation is a little bulky, I think most people will understand.
10 out of 10, Bravo.
The most important parts of any game are story and characters. Master these and a good game is on its way.

Thanks
Thank you very much.
I always had this problem with this kind of mechanics. It is very simple until you try to explain it to somebody. The other big problem with playing cards is, that you can't playtest even the smallest mechanic at your own. Dice can be rolled for yourself, but cards have to be kept hidden from each other. This makes the designing process very cumbersome.
So much of the praise belongs to my friend, who came by from another town to test the mechanic without any real meat on it. Many things in the game are incorporated thanks to this one playtest.

Moving of Pages
Note, that the example moved into its parent chapter. Social Combat moved into its place.
