3.2. Scenes, NPCs and Secrets
Definition
A scene is a welldefined place and time with a set of NPCs and their secrets. Every scene contain different NPCs with different engines and even different secrets to discover.
Structure
At the beginning of a scene you have no cards in your hand. Draw four cards and don't show them anyone. They will be your hand.
In a scene there can be more than one parallel social battles. If you don't take part in any of the battles (not only avoiding attacking, but even the possibility of it), you have to discard one card every turn and draw another.
At the end of a scene discard all your cards from your hand. The discard pile is shuffled back into the deck.
Dynamics
The scene is the flesh and meat of the play. It is there for the players to choose their fights and exact secrets from other characters and manipulate them.
There are no bridging scenes, without any danger, every scene incorporates the possibility of social conflicts. There is a possibility for the players to choose wich scene comes next, but it is up to the scenario.
NPCs
An NPC is a character not owned by a player. The NPCs all have instructions how to play instead of them and how to interpret the cards played. Their secrets are hidden "under" pictures of cards. If an NPC uncovers a secret, you should read the secret under the card wich uncovered it.
Note: Every scene can have a different set of engine and secrets for every NPC.
