Excalibur: Second Edition

This may be a bit premature, but the reminiscing with my RPG group has led me to digging up Excalibur, the game in which we had our adventures. The system was a simple one, an adapted and expanded version of The Adventurer RPG. I felt it was time to revive the project in form of a sequel, Excalibur: Second Edition. Yay D&D for inspiration in the "edition" format.

I think I will work on the game in stages. First things first is to create the core classes: Warrior, Thief, Mage, and Priest. And the core races: Human, Elf, and Dwarf. Elf is further sub-divided to Highborn Elf and Wild Elf. Dwarf is sub-divided into Stone Dwarf and Exiled Dwarf. I have also included the Half-Elf choice. At a later date I will finish the Slayer, Ranger, Druid, and Warlock classes, but I don't want to drown myself before I've even leapt into the ocean.

And yes, all of this does seem to be the very generic, fantasy RPG. And yes, I know this most potent community tries to stay away from the tried-and-tired formula, but Excalibur has always held a special place in my RPGer's heart. It's just the system seemed to limited to fit the scope of our imaginations. So, I've expanded it to using the Myriad system.

And universe-wise, to avoid inundating myself, I wil work on it from bottom up, rather than my standard top-to-bottom approach. Meaning, I won't focus on the lands as a whole, but rather focus on the kingdom of Casse and the barbarian lands of Hibernia to the north, and Cwymyr, homeland of the Highborn Elves, and the remnants of the ancient Brundar dwarven empire.

So, more to come soon, hopefully mechanics-wise.
